Make a meaningful impact by supporting young learners in a high-needs special education setting. A full-time contract opportunity is available for a dedicated special education teacher to work with K–2 students in a center-based classroom for Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is located in a collaborative environment, working closely with paraprofessional staff to provide academic, behavioral, and functional support to approximately six students.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License (required)
- Preferred licensure in ASD, DCD, ABS, or cross-categorical SPED
- Proven experience supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities
- Expertise in IEP development, data collection, and delivering tailored interventions
- Strong behavioral management abilities and proficiency in structuring classrooms for success
- Experienced in collaborating with related services teams and families
- Preferred: Previous work in center-based autism classrooms, familiarity with AAC, strategies for sensory regulation, and teaching functional skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for each student
- Provide academic instruction and behavioral support tailored to each child’s needs
- Employ evidence-based strategies for sensory regulation and communication
- Partner with paraprofessionals and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive services
- Maintain open communication with families, track progress, and adjust interventions as needed
- Foster a structured, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Assignment Details:
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- School year contract, beginning 08/31/2026 and concluding 06/04/2027
- Work with a small caseload in a center-based K–2 classroom setting
