Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Minnesota teaching credential in one or more of the following: Special Education: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, Early Childhood, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, Learning Disabilities, Special Education, or Academic & Behavioral Strategist License (ABS license optional but valuable)
  • Experience working in special education settings, especially with cross-categorical and behavior-focused student populations
  • Solid knowledge of developing and implementing effective behavior plans
  • Proven record of excellent attendance and reliability
  • Strong instructional, organizational, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to collaborate closely with both special education and general education colleagues, as well as paraprofessionals

Responsibilities:

  • Serve in one of several dynamic roles: middle school resource teacher, ASD center-based teacher at either Hidden Valley or Harriet Bishop Elementary, or DCD center-based teacher at Nicollet Middle School
  • Support students with a variety of needs, focusing on those whose primary specialized support is behavior (programs include students with Emotional Behavior Disorders and cross-categorical needs)
  • Develop and implement individualized education and behavior intervention plans
  • Foster positive student engagement and growth within a cross-disciplinary team
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate with families and support staff
