Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, onsite contract position spans from September 8, 2026, through June 17, 2027, in the Salem, OR area. There are 37.5 on-site hours per week and five available positions, making it a great time to bring your skills to a dedicated educational setting.
This role specializes in two primary caseloads:
- Behavioral Classrooms: Work with elementary students demonstrating significant behavioral needs including physical aggression or elopement. Deep experience handling intensive behaviors in a school environment is required.
- High-Volume Learning Resource Classrooms (LRC): Manage a robust caseload with an average of 43 students. Previous experience efficiently running high-volume LRCs in a public school setting is essential.
Key Qualifications:
- Active and current Special Education (SPED) teaching certification or state license for Oregon
- Prior success in managing behavior-focused elementary classrooms and/or high-volume LRC settings
- Ability to remain responsive, calm, and solution-focused in challenging situations
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with staff and families

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to diverse needs
- Employ effective behavior management strategies in behavioral classrooms
