Special Education Teacher - San Antonio, Texas

Step into a rewarding contract position supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for a self-contained Life Skills classroom, working with students in grades EC-6. Located near San Antonio, this role begins with two students and will expand to a maximum of five, providing the opportunity to witness and contribute to meaningful student growth. Your expertise will also be essential in collaborating with general education staff, helping bridge gaps and supporting student integration throughout the school community.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Texas Department of Education EC-6 Special Education teaching license (endorsement required)
• Experience working in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) processes and meetings
• Familiarity with Unique Learning System, eSped, and SymbolStix is preferred
• Must provide your own computer or laptop for instructional and reporting needs
• Willingness to adhere to a professional dress code: covering tattoos, maintaining natural hair colors, and wearing professional attire

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized, evidence-based instruction to a small group of Life Skills students, fostering independence and functional academic progress
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers to facilitate inclusive practices and develop effective accommodations
• Participate actively in ARD meetings, crafting and monitoring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and support staff to ensure a supportive learning environment
