Special Education Teacher - San Bernardino, CA

This contract position is ideal for an experienced professional eager to serve as a resource and consultant for schools, helping districts improve their services for students with physical challenges.

As a key support to Special Education teams, you’ll collaborate closely with educators and administrators to fulfill OI requirements on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Unlike a traditional classroom role, this position focuses solely on consultation—you won’t manage your own class, write or set up IEP meetings, or provide direct student services. Instead, your expertise will guide, inform, and empower special education teams through assessments, participation in IEP meetings, and ordering vital equipment for students. Your presence on site will be essential, as this district does not allow for virtual work.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher credential with an Orthopedic Impairment authorization (required)
• Prior experience in a school setting as a Special Education teacher or case manager, particularly supporting students with orthopedic needs
• Familiarity with the IEP process, including attending meetings and contributing consultatively
• Strong ability to assess student needs and recommend appropriate equipment and strategies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities include:

• Attending IEP meetings as a consulting expert on orthopedic impairment
• Conducting thorough assessments to assist schools in meeting OI requirements
• Recommending and ordering equipment tailored to student needs
• Supporting district compliance, without direct instruction or responsibility for writing IEP plans
