Special Education Teacher - Saratoga Springs, NY

Make a significant impact supporting K-12 students in a specialized educational environment near Saratoga Springs, NY. This contract opportunity spans from ASAP through June 2027 and begins with a comprehensive two-week training period to ensure you’re fully prepared. The school serves 78 students across 10 self-contained classrooms (8:1:3 ratio). You’ll work with students with level 3 autism, severe cognitive disabilities, and complex communication needs—most of whom are non-verbal and utilize alternative communication methods. The leadership team will work to match you with the age range you’re most comfortable with.

Schedule runs Monday through Friday, 7:45am to 3:15pm. While there are no designated planning periods, teachers may be approved for up to 40 hours weekly, with extra time for paperwork, IEPs, and planning as needed.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid NY Special Education (Students with Disabilities) license or eligibility; recent graduates and those working on credential transfer considered.
• Preferred experience with level 3 autism, severe behaviors, alternative communication, or medically complex students.
• Proven ability to conduct and implement alternative assessments and modify curriculum for diverse learners.
• Strong organizational skills for IEP paperwork and adaptable collaboration in a specialized setting.
