Certified Grades 6 - 8 Special Education Teacher - Sayre, PA

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students in an Emotional Support setting. This contract opportunity focuses on providing dedicated instruction to 7th and 8th graders, guiding a caseload of 13 students, with the potential for an increase to 20. You'll help build a structured, consistent learning environment that addresses the unique needs of each student while promoting positive outcomes through routine and encouragement.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Holds a valid, full Pennsylvania Special Education teaching license (Instructional I or II), or is able to obtain certification prior to starting; emergency and out-of-state credentials cannot be accepted
• Previous experience teaching middle schoolers or in emotional support classrooms is preferred
• Skilled at implementing structured routines while demonstrating flexibility to adjust to students’ needs
• Committed to positive reinforcement strategies and individualized support plans
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families

Responsibilities:

• Deliver daily instruction and intervention to a middle school emotional support caseload, adapting curricula as needed
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals for each student
• Create a classroom environment characterized by consistency, safety, and predictability
• Apply positive behavioral supports and individualized interventions
• Collaborate with related service professionals, administration, and families to best support every student’s growth
• Foster social-emotional skills and academic progress in a supportive setting
