Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students in a structured learning classroom setting. This role focuses on students in grades 1, 2, and 4, primarily working with children with Autism in a reversed inclusion model. Collaborate closely with general education teachers and dedicated paraprofessionals to provide targeted support, fostering growth and success throughout the school day.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with students with Autism or in self-contained/SLC settings
- Knowledge of general education curricula and best practices supporting diverse learners
- Strong collaboration abilities with general education staff and paraprofessionals
- Excellent communication skills for working with staff, students, and families
- Flexibility and patience in adapting to individual student needs
Responsibilities:
- Support a caseload of up to 8 students, including those with higher needs who receive additional paraprofessional assistance
- Serve as a resource to the general education teacher, helping adapt materials and strategies to students' unique learning, sensory, and behavioral needs
- Manage pull-out sessions for sensory, behavioral, and academic support—working 1:1 as needed—before students return to the general education classroom
- Work in partnership with two classroom paraprofessionals and other staff, providing leadership and expertise in special education practices
- Monitor and document student progress, implementing IEP goals and collaborating with families
- Maintain classroom organization and ensure a safe, supportive environment for all learners
This position offers a W-2 contract, weekly paychecks, and the opportunity to participate in a 401K plan.
