Apply NowThe Emotional Support Interventionist plays a critical role in supporting students who require enhanced emotional and behavioral assistance to access their education. This position works directly with students throughout the school day to promote emotional regulation, positive behavior, and effective coping strategies. Interventionists serve as consistent, trusted adults who help students navigate challenges while reinforcing skills that support long-term success in school and beyond.
Essential Duties

Deliver individualized and small-group emotional and behavioral support to students.

Support the implementation of individualized behavior strategies and intervention plans.

Assist students in developing self-regulation, coping, and problem-solving skills.

Provide structured supervision during academic instruction, transitions, and unstructured times.

Utilize proactive strategies to prevent escalation and apply de-escalation techniques when needed.

Monitor and document student behavior, progress, and responses to interventions.

Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, behavior specialists, and support staff.

Encourage student participation in classroom activities and support completion of academic work.

Assist with personal care needs as required by student programming.

Maintain consistency, structure, and a calm presence throughout the school day.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Juvenile Justice, Social Sciences, Behavioral Health, or a related field preferred.

Associate’s degree considered with at least 1 year of relevant experience (3 years preferred).

Prior experience working with students in emotional support, therapeutic, or behavior-focused environments.

Knowledge of emotional and behavioral disorders, including trauma-informed practices.

Ability to apply positive behavior supports and relationship-based interventions.

Strong emotional resilience and ability to work effectively in challenging situations.

Professional communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
