Special Education Teacher - Selmer, Tennessee

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Tennessee teaching license, with 461 Special Education endorsement
• Previous experience working in a self-contained special education classroom is highly preferred
• Strong classroom management skills that foster a supportive and effective learning environment
• Effective collaborator, able to communicate clearly and partner with families, fellow educators, and support staff
• Deep commitment to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional growth of middle school students

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction tailored to each student’s unique needs and abilities
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Build positive relationships with students, encouraging their participation and celebrating their successes
• Work closely with families, school administrators, and support staff to ensure student goals are met
• Create and maintain a safe, structured classroom where all learners feel valued
• Track and report on student progress, adapting strategies to maximize achievement
