Special Education Teacher - Selmer, TN

Make a difference in the lives of middle school students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, collaborative educational setting. In this in-person, contract opportunity, you’ll work with students in grades 6–8, providing essential instruction and guidance in a self-contained classroom environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Tennessee teaching license with 461 Special Education endorsement
• Experience in a self-contained special education classroom preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to foster academic, social, and emotional development
• Effective collaborator able to work closely with colleagues, families, and service providers

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized, standards-based instruction to students with diverse learning needs
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines
• Maintain a positive, structured classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and success
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress
• Track student growth and provide regular updates to families and school staff
• Utilize evidence-based strategies and interventions to address student needs
• Support students’ social and emotional growth through proactive classroom management and relationship-building
