Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, supporting elementary students in a self-contained classroom environment. This position is ideal for travel educators passionate about making a difference and eager to bring expertise where it's needed most. You’ll work on-site, collaborating closely with a dedicated team to provide specialized instruction to K–5 students.
Responsibilities:
- Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom for students with diverse learning needs in grades K–5
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s goals and requirements
- Deliver engaging instruction and modify curricula to meet student needs
- Work collaboratively with another Special Education Teacher to serve a caseload of approximately 20 students
- Assist with basic care needs, including occasional toileting support as required
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Communicate regularly with parents, general educators, and support staff
- Ensure compliance with all district, state, and federal special education guidelines
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Educator Certification in Special Education
- Ability to provide images/copies of all licenses and certifications upon request
- Experience working in a self-contained special education setting preferred
- Comfort supporting elementary-aged children (K–5)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Dedication to creating equitable learning opportunities and positive environments
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving needs within the classroom
This is a full-time, on-site position running through the end of the academic year, offering 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday (7:45am - 3:15pm). You’ll play a pivotal role as the first SPED teacher in several years at this campus, helping guide the development of a structured and nurturing environment.
