Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Vermont Special Education Teacher certification is preferred; candidates with pending certification are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience teaching or working with middle school-aged students, particularly those with unique educational needs.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet each student’s strengths and challenges.
  • Passionate about fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom community.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and manage a self-contained classroom for students in grades 6-8.
  • Develop, adapt, and deliver lesson plans tailored to individual student goals and needs.
  • Create a safe and encouraging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to implement IEPs and ensure student success.
  • Track and report on student progress, maintaining clear and accurate records.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development to remain current with best practices in special education.
