Special Education Teacher in Silverton, OR

Step into a collaborative, student-focused environment supporting K-12 learners with diverse needs as a Special Education Teacher. This rewarding, contract-based opportunity begins September 9, 2026 and extends through June 26, 2027. With several openings available, you'll play a vital role in shaping educational experiences onsite at a supportive district near Salem, OR. Full-time schedules (37.5 hours per week) and assignments will be matched to your background and interests—whether you thrive leading a middle school life skills class, working with developmental or behavioral programs at the elementary level, or supporting a range of unique learners.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing individualized instruction to students as outlined in IEPs
• Designing and adapting curriculum to meet developmental, life skills, and behavioral goals
• Leading, supervising, and collaborating with instructional assistants within the classroom
• Managing a variety of caseloads, including behavioral, life skills, and developmental-focused classrooms
• Documenting student progress, maintaining records, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Engaging and supporting students who are non-verbal or require functional routines
• Communicating with families and participating in IEP meetings
• Maintaining a safe, structured, and positive learning environment

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification (appropriate for K-12 in Oregon or eligible for reciprocity)
• Previous experience in special education settings, with preference for those experienced in behavioral health, developmental, or life skills programs
• Strong classroom management, leadership, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with fellow teachers, instructional assistants, and related service providers
• Flexibility and commitment to serving a diverse student population
