Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching credential appropriate for California
- Experience with moderate to severe disabilities, preferably in a self-contained setting
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and data collection
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills
- Adaptability and a collaborative spirit to work closely with related service providers and families
Role Responsibilities:
- Design and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student in the class
- Develop and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring compliance and student-centered goals
- Cultivate a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals and support staff to deliver targeted interventions
- Communicate progress and strategies with families, colleagues, and educational teams
- Advocate for students and promote their participation in all aspects of school life
