Make a direct impact by educating and supporting students in a specialized Life Skills classroom for grades K-5 as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant educational setting near South Boston, VA. This is a full-time contract position, offering 37.5 hours per week, where you will work closely with a small group of four students and a team of dedicated paraprofessionals.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification
  • Experience or strong interest in working in life skills or self-contained classrooms
  • Proven ability to support students with diverse learning needs
  • Skilled in creating individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting instructional strategies
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational abilities

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized and group lesson plans geared toward functional life skills and academic progress
  • Collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals to deliver instruction and behavioral support
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment to help students reach their full potential
  • Collect and analyze student performance data to adjust teaching methods as needed
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and related service providers regarding student goals and progress
  • Support classroom routines and actively contribute to a positive school community
