This role covers a maternity leave starting August 21st and extends into early January, with the academic year beginning for students on August 26th. You’ll work within a vibrant elementary school environment near South Burlington, VT, providing essential guidance and instruction to a diverse caseload.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification for grades K-4
- Experience working with mixed disability populations, including learning disabilities (LD), other health impairments (OHI), and autism spectrum disorders
- Familiarity or certification in structured literacy programs such as Orton Gillingham or Wilson Reading Systems is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a caseload of 10-15 students
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with staff and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small group instruction tailored to students’ education plans
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, progress reports, and IEP records
- Collaborate with a team of specialists, general educators, and families to provide comprehensive support
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing program development
- Engage students in meaningful, structured learning activities that foster growth
- Utilize a consistent daily schedule, with a 7:30am-3:30pm full-time commitment and a 40-minute dedicated planning period each day
