Step into an impactful role supporting K-4 students as a dedicated Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. This full-time, contract position covers a maternity leave from August 21st through May 31st, with assignments at two elementary schools within a manageable commuting distance. The schools serve a diverse student population, ranging from those with learning disabilities and other health impairments to students on the autism spectrum. What you’ll bring:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility)
- Experience working with K-4 students with a variety of disabilities
- Strong skills in implementing IEPs, providing differentiated instruction, and data collection
- Experience or certification in structured learning programs (Orton Gillingham or Wilson) is highly preferred
- Excellent collaboration skills to work closely with general education staff, aides, and families
- Strong organizational abilities, adaptability, and a student-centered mindset
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver special education instruction for students with LD, OHI, and on the Autism spectrum
- Manage a caseload of approximately 10-15 students across two K-4 schools
- Plan, implement, and monitor IEP goals, ensuring compliance and documentation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in meetings
- Utilize a dedicated 40-minute daily prep/planning period to design engaging interventions
- Maintain clear, effective communication with families and support staff
- Rotate between two school locations, both fostering inclusive and welcoming learning environments
