Special Education Teacher - South Burlington, VT

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Vermont Special Educator license, or eligibility for VT licensure transfer.
• Experience teaching or supporting high school students in special education settings.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Dedication to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction to high school students with diverse learning profiles.
• Design and adjust lesson plans to meet identified IEP goals while aligning with state and district standards.
• Coordinate regularly with faculty, school staff, and parents/guardians to support student success and ensure compliance.
• Document student progress and maintain accurate records, reports, and data.
• Implement effective behavior management strategies and classroom supports.
• Participate in eligibility, evaluation, and annual review meetings.
• Provide consultation, resources, and advocacy for students and families.
