Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification/licensure (or eligibility) in Vermont
  • Experience in a K-12 school setting, preferably with diverse student populations
  • Thorough understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and implementation
  • Familiarity with current best practices in special education, accommodations, and modifications
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, and colleagues
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability to meet challenges as they arise

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individualized instruction to students with varying academic, emotional, and developmental needs
  • Create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student strengths and growth areas
  • Assess student progress, document results, and adjust teaching approaches based on data
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure effective inclusion and support for all learners
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters student growth and engagement
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities
