Special Education Teacher in South Plainfield, NJ

An immediate opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher skilled in working with students on the autism spectrum. This contract role offers 10 hours per week of in-person teaching, focusing exclusively on one student who communicates using an assistive device and relies on structured, personalized support to meet educational targets.

In this position, you’ll guide the student through the achievement of IEP goals, fostering academic development and enhancing communication skills. Your ability to build a supportive, consistent relationship will help create a positive educational experience tailored to individual needs.

Qualifications & Experience Sought:

• Active Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience with students with autism and related communication needs
• Familiarity with use of communication devices
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
• Passion for individualized, student-centered instruction

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 instruction in accordance with the student’s IEP
• Employ strategies to strengthen communication and engagement
• Adapt lessons and activities to meet evolving needs
