Step into an impactful role for the 2026-2027 school year as a Special Education Teacher specializing in middle school grades. You'll make a difference in the lives of students in a Learning Resource Center setting, collaborating closely with two experienced educators to support approximately 40 students across grades 6, 7, and 8. This is a full-time, onsite position with a consistent schedule of 7.5 hours per day including a half-hour unpaid lunch, allowing you to foster strong relationships and provide sustained support.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Washington Special Education License or Certification, or willingness to obtain
- Fingerprinting through OSPI, or willingness to complete the process
- Experience working in special education within a school setting preferred
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Commitment to nurturing a positive, inclusive learning environment for diverse learners
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction and specialized support to a caseload of middle school students in the Learning Resource Center
- Work closely with a team of LRC teachers to plan, develop, and adapt curriculum and educational strategies
- Manage and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Monitor student progress, collect relevant data, and communicate with families, staff, and service providers
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training opportunities
