Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience with inclusive behavior programs or resource settings is highly valued.
  • Background providing instruction and support to students with cognitive or developmental disabilities.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with general education staff, students, and families.
  • Genuine passion for fostering a supportive and accommodating learning environment for all learners.
  • Flexibility and creativity in adapting materials and approaches to meet individual student needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Guide high school students in an inclusive behavior support program, offering redirection and de-escalation strategies for students needing occasional time to decompress or refocus.
  • Collaborate with elementary classroom teachers to deliver inclusion/resource support, delivering modified content in both general and special education settings.
  • Lead alternate curriculum (Life Skills) instruction for elementary and high school students, focusing on life skills, functional academics, and individualized educational goals.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with other team members.
  • Maintain consistent communication and documentation to support student progress and success.
  • Provide a safe, nurturing classroom atmosphere dedicated to positive outcomes.
