As a Special Education Teacher in an elementary autism program, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering individualized instruction and behavioral support, enabling each student to flourish academically and personally within a structured, nurturing environment.

What Makes You a Strong Fit:
- Current Virginia Special Education Teaching License or eligibility for licensure
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with disabilities
- Solid understanding of special education compliance and documentation
- Strong classroom management and evidence-based behavior support skills
- Excellent collaboration with families and multidisciplinary specialists
Ideal, but not required:
- Prior teaching experience with students on the autism spectrum
- Background working in self-contained special education settings
- Training in ABA principles, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication systems
- Experience supporting students with significant cognitive or behavioral challenges
- Crisis prevention and de-escalation training
You Will:
- Design and deliver instruction aligned with IEPs and state standards using proven strategies for students with autism
- Lead the creation and implementation of positive behavior interventions and individualized behavior plans
- Work closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, and other service providers
- Supervise and mentor paraprofessionals in daily classroom activities
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and supportive learning space where communication, social skills, and independence are nurtured
