Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities, ensuring a positive, inclusive classroom climate.
  • Utilize specialized strategies to develop students’ sensory, perceptual, motor, language, cognitive, and memory skills.
  • Deliver differentiated instruction in core academic subjects using phonics, multisensory, and repetition-based techniques.
  • Implement IEP goals and reinforce socially appropriate behaviors using positive behavior support methods.
  • Modify general education curriculum through evidence-based instructional practices and assistive technologies.
  • Plan interactive instructional activities balancing direct instruction, guided practice, and independent learning.
  • Collaborate with general educators, related service staff, administrators, and families for comprehensive student support and compliance with special education regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate as required by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and current enrollment in an approved teacher certification program recognized by MDE
  • Preferred: Prior teaching experience in a similar school setting
  • Preferred Endorsements: Learning Disabilities (SM) and/or Cognitive Impairment (SA)
