A Special Education Teacher is needed for a Kindergarten position in Springfield, MA. This contract role involves working in an inclusion/resource setting, supporting students with moderate disabilities across two classrooms. The teacher will work with a small group of 14 students from Kindergarten, providing targeted support and adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in a resource/inclusion model
- Moving between two classrooms to provide consistent assistance to all assigned students
- Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records of educational goals and accommodations
- Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and engagement
Qualifications and experience:
- Valid PreK-8 Moderate Disabilities teaching certification is required
- Experience working with young children in inclusive settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, strategies, and best practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage a classroom effectively with sensitivity to diverse learning needs
