You'll work across both elementary and middle school classrooms, with manageable student caseloads and strong collaborative support from teaching assistants and behavior technicians. A focus on individualized education, compassion, and partnership are keys to success in this dynamic setting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification or licensure (State-required)
- Experience teaching or supporting elementary and/or middle school students
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting curriculum
- Compassion and skill in supporting students who may need assistance with toileting or have medical needs (training or willingness to learn essential)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with support staff, administrators, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and classroom management for small groups: 6 elementary and 11 middle school students
- Partner with teaching assistants and behavior technicians for holistic student support
- Assist students as needed with toileting; support one middle school student with a feeding tube as required
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a caring, inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued
- Communicate regularly with families and staff regarding student progress
