Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored for students with diverse abilities.
• Deliver evidence-based instructional strategies that address academic, communication, social, and adaptive goals for elementary-aged learners.
• Implement effective positive behavior interventions and behavioral support plans (PBIS, BIPs) to promote a safe and encouraging environment.
• Partner with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other professionals for collaborative, multidisciplinary support.
• Supervise paraprofessionals, ensuring consistent classroom management and student engagement.
• Gather, analyze, and maintain comprehensive student progress data and comply with all documentation guidelines.
• Encourage the development of social interaction, self-regulation, and independent living skills.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• An active (or eligible) Virginia Special Education Teaching License.
• Experience creating and managing IEPs, with a deep understanding of compliance and related paperwork.
• Strong classroom management and behavior support abilities; collaboration with families and school teams.
• Preferred: Direct experience with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly in self-contained settings.
• Familiarity with ABA methodologies, structured teaching, visual schedules, social stories, and alternative communication systems is a strong plus.
• Training in crisis prevention and de-escalation is advantageous.
