Key Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Special Education Teaching License, or eligibility for licensure
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Solid understanding of special education compliance and documentation practices
- Strong classroom management and positive behavior support skills
- Collaborative mindset for working with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Preferred: Experience with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, knowledge of ABA, visual schedules, social stories, and crisis prevention/de-escalation practices
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver targeted instruction aligned with state curriculum and IEP goals
- Implement evidence-based strategies for students with ASD, including PBIS and BIPs
- Foster development in communication, social skills, adaptive behavior, and independence
- Supervise and guide paraprofessionals assisting in the classroom
- Collaborate closely with related service professionals and support staff
- Maintain accurate progress monitoring and compliance documentation
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment that cultivates engagement and success
