Special Education Teacher - Stafford, Virginia

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Virginia Special Education Teaching License required
• Demonstrated experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
• Prior work in self-contained special education classrooms
• Proficient in utilizing ABA principles, structured teaching, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication systems
• Skilled at supporting students with significant cognitive and behavioral needs
• Crisis prevention and de-escalation training preferred

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction for elementary students in a self-contained autism program
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique strengths and needs
• Utilize evidence-based strategies such as applied behavior analysis and structured teaching methods
• Establish a supportive, consistent classroom environment guided by visual schedules and social stories
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and school staff to support student development
