Make a meaningful impact in the lives of middle school students as a Special Education Teacher, supporting learners in either self-contained or resource/co-teaching classrooms. Based near Stamford, CT, this contract position offers the rewarding opportunity to help students thrive, particularly in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. You'll play a vital role in fostering academic and personal growth, working with a close-knit group of roughly 8 students in a self-contained class or guiding 20-25 students in a resource/co-teaching setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in ELA and Mathematics for middle school students with diverse exceptionalities
- Develop, write, and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support student success
- Attend and present at IEP meetings, collaborating closely with staff and families
- Assess students’ needs, administer necessary testing, and monitor progress toward established goals
- Work alongside general education teachers and specialists in co-teaching environments
- Maintain documentation and communication as required; case management is actively supported by district administration
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement
- At least 2 years of recent experience teaching in Special Education settings
- Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing IEPs
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities
