Special Education Teacher in Stamford, CT

This contract position is ideal for educators passionate about individualized instruction, with opportunities to work in self-contained or resource/co-teaching classrooms focused on core subject areas such as English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics. Classroom sizes range from about 8 students for self-contained classes to 20-25 students in resource/co-teaching environments.

In this role, you will:

• Write, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Attend and present at IEP meetings to collaborate with caregivers, team members, and specialists.
• Test and evaluate students’ academic progress and track progress toward goals.
• Work closely with other educators to support students in resource/co-teaching models.
• Focus more on direct instruction, as case management responsibilities are managed by district office administration.

What you’ll need:

• Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement.
• At least 2 years of recent teaching experience in special education.
• Proven ability to write and effectively implement IEPs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to supporting diverse learning needs and fostering inclusive classrooms.
