Shape the academic journey for high school students by bringing your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a vibrant educational community near Stamford, CT. In this contract position, you’ll work either in self-contained settings with approximately 8 students or in resource/co-teaching environments that serve groups of 20-25. Your efforts will directly impact students’ growth in key subjects including English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Valid Connecticut Special Education Endorsement
  • Proficiency in writing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • At least two years of recent teaching experience, ideally within special education settings
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate with colleagues and manage documentation
  • Confidence in testing, progress monitoring, and adapting instruction for varied learning needs

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver lessons for high school students in self-contained or resource/co-teaching models
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor IEPs for every student on your caseload
  • Present and contribute to IEP meetings, collaborating with families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Conduct student assessments and goal tracking, utilizing data to inform instruction
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment focused on student growth
  • Stay informed of special education best practices and legal requirements
