Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid special education certification or eligibility for certification in Connecticut is required for both positions.
  • Experience or training in reading intervention programs such as SPIRE, WILSON, or Orton-Gillingham is preferred for one position.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver instructional strategies tailored to diverse student learning needs.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Position 1: Specialized Academic Instruction (6th Grade)

  • Teach 6th grade English Language Arts and Math, including specialized reading and math instruction.
  • Utilize research-based intervention programs to advance literacy and numeracy development.
  • Collaborate with other educators to adapt curriculum and monitor progress.

Position 2: Academic Assistance (Grades 6-8)

  • Support students in grades 6-8, focusing on executive functioning skills and core subject area achievement.
  • Guide small groups and individual students in a resource setting, helping them meet IEP goals.
  • Foster independence, self-advocacy, and organizational skills.
