Requirements and Preferred Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification (Michigan state credentials preferred)
  • Thorough understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Experience in elementary special education resource or a comparable setting
  • Strong communication skills for building rapport with students, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to adapt instruction and modify curriculum according to individual student needs
  • Experience collaborating with co-teachers or support staff is a plus

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in grades K-5 with diverse learning needs, primarily providing pull-out and in-class support
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Work side-by-side with a fellow resource SPED teacher, sharing insights and supporting each other's caseloads
  • Employ evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions
  • Actively communicate with families and multidisciplinary teams regarding progress and strategies
  • Maintain organized records, documentation, and timely reporting
