This is a full-time contract role supporting students in a vibrant elementary environment near Sterling Heights, MI. You'll join an experienced team, working collaboratively with another Resource Special Education Teacher to ensure each student receives individualized academic support and social-emotional growth.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
  • Experience working in a resource classroom, preferably at the elementary level
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
  • Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning needs and collaborate with general education staff
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and encouraging classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted instruction and support to students with special needs in a resource setting
  • Implement IEPs, track student progress, and maintain accurate documentation
  • Collaborate daily with another resource SPED and classroom teachers to support inclusive practices
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and accommodations to enhance student engagement and achievement
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for support
  • Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and other school initiatives aimed at student success
