This is a full-time contract role supporting students in a vibrant elementary environment near Sterling Heights, MI. You'll join an experienced team, working collaboratively with another Resource Special Education Teacher to ensure each student receives individualized academic support and social-emotional growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
- Experience working in a resource classroom, preferably at the elementary level
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning needs and collaborate with general education staff
- Excellent communication skills for engaging students, families, and colleagues
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive, and encouraging classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction and support to students with special needs in a resource setting
- Implement IEPs, track student progress, and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate daily with another resource SPED and classroom teachers to support inclusive practices
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and accommodations to enhance student engagement and achievement
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for support
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff development, and other school initiatives aimed at student success
