Special Education Teacher | Sterling Heights, Michigan

Make a meaningful impact supporting diverse learners as a Special Education Teacher in the upcoming academic year. This full-time, in-person contract role runs from late August through late June at a dynamic educational environment near Sterling Heights, MI. The focus will be on fostering growth and success for students with mild to moderate needs, partnering with colleagues, families, and support staff to deliver customized instruction.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet the specific learning goals of each student
• Collaborating with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure integration and appropriate accommodations
• Creating a supportive, structured classroom that encourages communication, self-advocacy, and academic achievement
• Maintaining accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with state and federal special education regulations
• Utilizing evidence-based strategies and resources for differentiation and behavioral support
• Engaging regularly with families to discuss student progress and foster strong school-home partnerships

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification with Special Education (SPED) endorsement
• Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
