This position focuses on providing instructional and behavioral support in a center-based Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) classroom, serving a small group of K–2 elementary students within a high-support environment. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License (EBD certification strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with significant behavioral needs
- Background in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Proficiency in behavioral intervention techniques, de-escalation, and classroom consultation
- Strong communication skills and collaborative approach with multidisciplinary teams
- Priority given to professionals with Level 3 behavior setting experience
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience in a K–2 center-based special education classroom
- Familiarity with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and restorative practices
- Understanding and use of trauma-informed instructional methods
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead instructional activities within a center-based, high-support EBD classroom (approximately six students)
- Collaborate with classroom and behavioral support staff to ensure individualized care
- Design and implement IEPs and BIPs tailored to each student’s needs
- Utilize behavior intervention and de-escalation strategies to promote a positive classroom atmosphere
- Partner with families and team members to develop holistic support plans
