Special Education Teacher - Storrs Mansfield, CT

A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed for a Middle School Life Skills classroom supporting students in grades 6 through 8. This contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the current school year. The role focuses on serving students with diverse learning needs in a self-contained Life Skills setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement individualized instruction tailored to students with life skills needs in grades 6-8
• Develop, write, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to ensure compliance and alignment with student goals
• Collaborate closely with related service providers, classroom staff, and families to support student success
• Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of student progress
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment conducive to student growth

Desired Qualifications:

• Certification in Special Education
• Experience working with Middle School students, specifically in Life Skills or self-contained classrooms
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with families and school teams
• Ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning styles and needs
