Special Education Teacher in Storrs Mansfield, CT

Special Education Teachers passionate about helping students reach their potential are needed for contract roles supporting middle and high school learners in Mansfield, Connecticut. This position will involve working within both resource and self-contained classrooms, focusing on English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. You’ll collaborate closely with another teacher to serve a combined caseload of 30, managing 14-16 students each. Responsibilities include developing IEPs, presenting at meetings, conducting assessments, and tracking student goals to promote academic and personal growth.

The contract begins with a probationary period of four weeks or the Fall Semester, with potential for renewal based on your performance and ability to work as part of a collaborative team. The schedule runs Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM – 2:30 PM, including a daily planning period. While not mandatory or compensated, you’re welcome to participate in four professional development days offered annually.

To be considered, applicants should possess:

• Active Connecticut Special Education Endorsement. Candidates with a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) will also be reviewed.
• A minimum of two years’ recent teaching experience.
• Strong skills in writing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Experience with student assessment, documentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
