Grades 9 - 12 Grades 6 - 8 Special Education Teacher - Storrs Mansfield, CT

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in the Storrs Mansfield, CT area. Multiple positions are available, with a particular emphasis on filling the High School (Grades 9–12) opening as a top priority. Both the high school and middle school roles offer an opportunity to make an impact within a dedicated school community.

High School (Grades 9–12)

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:15 AM – 2:30 PM
• Focus: Mild to moderate disabilities within an inclusion/resource setting
• Work closely with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and provide targeted support

Middle School (Grades 6–8)

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:25 AM – 2:05 PM
• Setting: Self-contained classroom with a focus on students with autism
• Develop and implement individualized plans, creating a supportive and structured environment

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Certification for K–12 or grade levels appropriate to the role
• Experience working with mild to moderate disabilities or in autism-focused settings highly valued
• Strong collaborative skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and inclusive instructional practices
• Flexibility, adaptability, and dedication to student growth

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and adapt curricular materials to meet diverse student needs
• Maintain thorough documentation and contribute to IEP process and meetings
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom climate conducive to learning and growth
• Support students across academic, social, and behavioral domains
