An exciting contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Life Skills Teacher to support students in grades PK-5. This position is based onsite and will run from August 2026 through May 2027, offering a chance to positively impact students’ lives within a supportive school environment near Sunnyside, WA. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current Washington State Special Education Certification required
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Previous experience working with students requiring life skills support preferred, but enthusiastic new graduates are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with a range of special needs in a life skills classroom setting
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, and families to support student learning
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate updates regularly with parents and staff
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere focused on growth and independence
