Exciting opportunity for an experienced Special Education Teacher passionate about student-centered, individualized instruction! This full-time, year-round contract role involves working closely with a single elementary-aged student in a dynamic school setting. The assignment runs from July 2026 to August 2027, with a strong chance of extension or permanent offer based on performance.

As the dedicated 1:1 Special Education Teacher, you’ll partner with a lively, non-verbal student with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI), who thrives on engaging, interactive experiences. Your weekdays will be structured for maximum impact: direct instruction from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by documentation and collaboration with a skilled multidisciplinary team until mid-afternoon.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Credential (California CTC preferred)
  • Experience working 1:1 with elementary-aged students, especially those with visual impairments and non-verbal communication
  • Solid understanding and ability to teach using adapted special education curriculums based on state standards
  • Familiarity with Unique Learning Systems (ULS) is highly desirable
  • Creative lesson planning, using project-based, sensory-informed, visually-adapted, and communication-rich activities
  • Strong collaborative skills for teaming with specialists such as AAC, SLP, TVI, BCBA, and OT

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction in a school environment (not a home setting)
  • Design and implement lessons aligned with California Core standards
  • Support both academic and social-emotional development of the student
  • Track progress, complete documentation, and attend collaborative meetings
  • Foster engagement, communication skills, and peer interactions
