Key Qualifications:

  • Active California Special Education Teaching Credential with at least Mild/Moderate Authorization
  • Previous experience teaching special education students, ideally including middle school grades
  • In-depth understanding of IEP processes, compliance, and documentation
  • Strong communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Familiarity with a variety of instructional strategies for students requiring differentiated support
  • Flexibility to work with variable grade levels, providing adaptive instruction as needed

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote student growth
  • Adapt curriculum and utilize diverse teaching methods to support learning goals
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued
  • Partner with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with parents/guardians
  • Participate in parent meetings, professional development, and school events as required
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support as needed to promote student well-being
