Key Qualifications:
- Active California Special Education Teaching Credential with at least Mild/Moderate Authorization
- Previous experience teaching special education students, ideally including middle school grades
- In-depth understanding of IEP processes, compliance, and documentation
- Strong communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with a variety of instructional strategies for students requiring differentiated support
- Flexibility to work with variable grade levels, providing adaptive instruction as needed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote student growth
- Adapt curriculum and utilize diverse teaching methods to support learning goals
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued
- Partner with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with parents/guardians
- Participate in parent meetings, professional development, and school events as required
- Provide crisis intervention and emotional support as needed to promote student well-being
