Soliant is seeking a compassionate and innovative 1:1 Elementary Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction to a young student in a school-based setting in Mountain View, California. This year-round position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through personalized, project-based instruction while working alongside a highly collaborative team of specialists.
This assignment is based entirely within a school district and does not involve home-based services. The client is initially offering a one-year contract, with a strong likelihood of renewal or permanent placement for successful candidates.
Assignment Details
- Position: Full-time; 30–35 hours per week
- Setting: 1:1 instruction with elementary-aged student
- Student is non-verbal and has Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI)
- Deliver instruction aligned with California CTC Core Standards using an adapted special education curriculum
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including:
- AAC Specialist
- Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
- Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- BCBA
- Occupational Therapist (OT)
Required Qualifications
- Active California Special Education Teaching Credential
- Experience working with elementary-aged students with significant support needs
- Strong understanding of differentiated and individualized instruction
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement IEP-driven instruction
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with students with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI)
- Familiarity with Unique Learning System (ULS)
- Experience supporting AAC users and non-verbal learners
- Background in project-based or sensory-informed instruction
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized academic instruction aligned with California standards
- Adapt curriculum to meet the student's visual, communication, and learning needs
- Foster communication, social-emotional development, and peer engagement
- Collaborate daily with specialists and educational staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring
- Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing educational planning
- Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
