As a Life Skills Teacher, you will design lessons and activities tailored to each student’s unique strengths, challenges, and abilities, fostering independence and personal growth. Working collaboratively with education teams and families, you’ll help students develop essential life and academic skills that support their success beyond the classroom.

Qualifications:

• Valid Texas Special Education Teaching License
• Experience teaching high school students with diverse needs strongly preferred
• Familiarity with life skills curriculum and strategies for differentiated instruction
• Knowledge of IEP development, data tracking, and progress monitoring
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Compassion, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to student growth

Role Responsibilities:

• Create, implement, and adapt lesson plans to meet individual IEP goals
• Teach functional academics, social skills, and daily living skills
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraeducators, and support staff
• Maintain accurate data on student progress and keep families informed
• Attend faculty meetings, trainings, and parent conferences as required
