Join a dedicated educational team as a Self-Contained Elementary Special Education Teacher in Charleston, Mississippi! This full-time opportunity for the 2026–2027 school year offers the chance to work with a small group of students in a supportive classroom environment, helping them achieve academic, behavioral, and developmental success.

Assignment Details

  • Full-time position for the 2026–2027 school year
  • Self-contained elementary special education classroom
  • Caseload of approximately 8 students
  • Students primarily in 1st through 4th grade
  • Develop and deliver individualized instruction tailored to each student's needs
  • Work closely with school staff, related service providers, and families to support student progress

Required Qualifications

  • Active Mississippi Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related education field
  • Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in an elementary self-contained special education setting
  • Familiarity with evidence-based instructional and behavioral intervention strategies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Passion for creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students with diverse needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals
  • Create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
  • Monitor student growth and maintain accurate educational records
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate regularly with families and school staff
  • Collaborate with therapists, administrators, and general education teachers to promote student success
  • Encourage academic achievement, independence, and positive social-emotional development
