Special Education Teacher - Sykesville, MD

Three full-time positions are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers at thriving elementary and middle school sites beginning August 17th through June 4th.

Assignments include Oakdale Middle School (Learning for Life Program, 15 students, 7:30 am–3:30 pm), an additional self-contained elementary site with a 10-student caseload (9:00 am–3:30 pm; site to be determined), and Centerville Elementary, supporting a self-contained behavioral caseload. Each role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in students’ academic and behavioral development.

Desired qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification appropriate for the age group to be served
• Previous experience working with elementary or middle school students in self-contained or specialized programs is highly valued
• Deep understanding of IEP development, data-driven instruction, and differentiation
• Collaborative mindset for partnering with general education staff, support personnel, and families
• Strong commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment

Key responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and group instruction aligned with IEP goals and curriculum standards
• Develop, implement, and monitor effective behavior management systems
• Collect and analyze student data to inform instructional strategies
• Communicate regularly with parents and team members about student progress
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP reviews, and staff development
• Exhibit adaptability to adjust teaching strategies to diverse needs
