Special Education Teacher in Sylacauga, AL

This contract position offers the chance to serve in both inclusion and self-contained classrooms across two welcoming school communities, with the flexibility to use your current special education certification to meet the needs of K-6 or 6-12 learners.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teacher licensure, verifiable via the Alabama Department of Education certification portal
• K-6 certification required for the inclusion classroom role
• 6-12 certification suitable for self-contained and inclusion roles
• Experience in school-based special education preferred
• Strong ability to collaborate with colleagues, service providers, and families
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet a range of learning needs and disabilities

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized instruction and support to students in inclusion and/or self-contained settings
• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with educational teams
• Monitor and document student progress toward goals
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure student success within the least restrictive environment
• Manage classroom environments that foster learning, safety, and respect
• Communicate regularly with students’ families regarding progress and plans
