An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated Special Education Resource Teacher for a contract role for the 2026-2027 school year. This position focuses on supporting students as a Special Education Teacher within a resource setting, close to the vibrant Tacoma area and just a short drive south of Seattle. Work a balanced schedule of four days per week, totaling 30 hours, allowing meaningful student engagement and work-life flexibility.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification in Special Education (or eligibility in Washington state)
- Prior classroom experience as a Special Education Teacher, ideally within a resource room or inclusion model
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and teams
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment
- Adaptability and creativity in instructional strategies
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized lesson plans and adapt curriculum materials for students with diverse learning needs
- Lead group and one-on-one instruction in a resource room setting
- Monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation for IEPs and other reporting requirements
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to maximize student success
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary discussions, and ongoing professional development
