Make a meaningful difference in the lives of middle school students as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, contract opportunity is perfectly suited for passionate educators ready to support diverse learners in a Learning Resource Center (LRC) setting. You'll collaborate with two other dedicated LRC teachers, working with students in grades 6 through 8. Key Qualifications:
- Washington State Special Education teaching license/certification, or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Ability to fulfill fingerprinting requirements via OSPI or commitment to complete process
- Experience in special education at the middle school level, with a preference for those who have supported larger caseloads (approximately 40 students)
- Strong collaborative skills; eager to work closely with other educators and support staff
- Excellent communication skills, both with students and caregivers
- Deep commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support services to a diverse caseload of middle school learners
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate daily with fellow LRC teachers and general education colleagues
- Communicate progress and needs with families, advocating for student success
- Adapt materials and strategies to meet varying abilities and learning styles
- Maintain all required documentation and compliance standards
- Remain onsite and fully engaged throughout scheduled hours (full time with a .5-hour unpaid lunch)
