This contract opportunity is designed for a Special Education professional passionate about working with elementary students, specifically those in grades K-1. You’ll be guiding a small group of 7-8 students in an ACT 18 ASD classroom, working alongside a robust support team—including speech therapists, school social workers, OTs, and an ASD coach. With a brand new curriculum at your fingertips and a team of three paraprofessionals, you’ll have ample resources to provide individualized instruction and foster meaningful growth.
Qualifications:
- Valid elementary teaching certification and ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) endorsement required
- Proven experience working in a Special Education setting, preferably with early elementary students
- Strong collaborative skills, able to work confidently alongside a multi-disciplinary support team
- Ability to implement new curriculum materials with creativity and fidelity
- Excellent communication skills and compassion for students with diverse needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans using the provided curriculum for a self-contained ASD classroom
- Supervise and collaborate with three classroom paraprofessionals to ensure consistent support for students
- Monitor student progress, conduct assessments, and contribute to IEP goal planning and data collection
- Participate in team meetings and maintain communication with related service providers and families
- Create a positive, structured, and nurturing environment where every child is empowered to thrive
