Special Education Teacher in Taylorsville, NC

This is a contract opportunity with positions available at Discovery School, Third Creek Middle School, and West Iredell High School, working with students in both middle and high school settings. You’ll provide tailored instruction and interventions, helping students succeed and reach their full potential.

Key Details:

• Contract runs from August 13, 2026, to June 3, 2027
• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm, up to 40 hours per week
• Caseload ranges from 15 to 18 students, depending on assignment
• Students predominantly present with high-level autism and require an adapted curriculum or extended content standards

Required Qualifications:

• Current teaching license in Adapted Curriculum (required for Discovery School)
• Experience working with students with autism and/or significant support needs
• Comfort with a mix of inclusion/resource and adapted curriculum settings
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including related service providers and families
• Previous experience managing caseloads in a special education setting preferred

Role Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students
• Provide specialized instruction according to student needs
• Modify curriculum to meet a variety of learning differences
• Track student progress and maintain detailed records
